KYOCERA AVX Medium Power film capacitors incorporate a dry segmented and non-segmented metallized polypropylene or polyester dielectric. The segmentation provides controlled self-healing, designed to achieve very high dielectric strength and avoid catastrophic failure.
With KYOCERA AVX Controlled Self-healing technology, the segmented capacitors comprises several million elements, each protected by “fuse gates”. During operation, any dielectric breakdown becomes insulated locally, minimizing the risk of short circuit and the capacitor continues functioning normally.
