Invited to present two technical papers, teach an in-depth training seminar, and co-chair a conference session, AVX’s presence at CMSE 2018 is a testament to its dedication to the design & development of advanced military & space electronics
FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (April 16, 2018) – AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer and supplier of advanced electronic components and interconnect, sensor, control, and antenna solutions, will deliver two technical presentations, teach a tutorial training seminar, co-chair a conference session, and exhibit at the 22nd annual Components for Military & Space Electronics Conference & Exhibition (CMSE 2018), which will take place May 7–10, 2018 at the Sheraton Four Points Hotel in Los Angeles.
Recognized as the most comprehensive conference dedicated to successful practices for the use of both military and COTS components in military and space systems, CMSE addresses topics including: electronic components, testing, reliability, and supply chain, and places a special emphasis on new technology and design practices. The first two days of CMSE 2018 will consist of a total of six in-depth, half-day tutorial sessions, one of which — a morning session on Tuesday, May 8, entitled “Attributes and Challenges of Polymer Electrolytic Capacitors in High Reliability Applications” — will be taught by AVX’s Electrolytic Division Technical Manager, Mitch Weaver, and will address measures designed to mitigate the potential degradation factors of polymer capacitors, their successful employment in new AEC-Q200-qualified polymer capacitor designs, and their potential employment in polymer capacitors designed for use in aerospace and defense applications. Days three and four of the event will feature two keynotes, exhibition hours, and a total of four technical conference sessions, one of which — Session 3: Packaging Technology of Passive Components for Military and High-Reliability Space Systems — will feature two AVX presentations and will be co-chaired by AVX Fellow and member of the CMSE Program Committee, Ron Demcko.
“We’re extremely pleased to have once again been invited to participate in and contribute to the CMSE conference and exhibition,” said AVX Fellow, Ron Demcko. “CMSE is an important, industry-shaping event that creates a collaborative environment in which leading members of the military and space components supply chain — ranging from design engineers to product managers, quality assurance personnel, and procurement executives — can work together to address and solve challenges that affect these critical components. It’s also created by engineers for engineers and product management, so we’re very proud to be participating and contributing to this uniquely collaborative event for a sixth consecutive year.”
On Wednesday, May 9, during the first half of Session 3, AVX’s Ceramics Technical Manager, John Marshall, will deliver a presentation entitled “Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors for Space-Level Applications Utilizing Base Metal Electrodes.” The Packaging Technology of Passive Components for Military and High-Reliability Space Systems session will continue on Thursday, May 10, and will include a technical presentation by Mitch Weaver based on his polymer electrolytic capacitor tutorial session from Tuesday.
