AVX Achieves Supercapacitor CV Values With Expanded High Temp Max Cap Capacitor Series

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (May 31, 2016) – AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has released a new series of axial leaded, hermetically sealed wet electrolytic tantalum capacitors that achieve supercapacitor CV values in high temperature environments up to 125°C. Utilizing high CV tantalum powders and a well-established wet tantalum design, TWD High Temp Max Cap (HTMC) Series capacitors deliver exceptional electrical and mechanical stability, achieving extended operational lifetimes of up to 10,000 hours at 85°C, rated voltage. Combined with extremely high capacitance values spanning 25mF to 50mF and a wide operating temperature range spanning -55°C to +125°C, the extended endurance of the new TWD HTMC Series capacitors makes them ideal for use in DC hold-up

AVX Releases New 2mm-Pitch Vertical-Mate Battery Connectors for Consumer, Medical, Industrial, & Harsh Environment Applications

AVX Releases New 2mm-Pitch Vertical-Mate Battery Connectors for Consumer, Medical, Industrial, & Harsh Environment Applications

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (May 10, 2016) – AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has released a new series of low profile battery connectors especially designed to prevent end-user damage to the contacts in electronic devices with pluggable modules that vertically mate with a base unit. The new 9155-800 Series vertical-mate, 2mm-pitch battery connectors feature ultra robust and reliable gold-plated beryllium copper (BeCu) contacts that deliver excellent electrical and mechanical performance for more than 5,000 mating cycles, in addition to a unique contact geometry designed to deflect cleanly and easily when a module or mating connector is vertically pushed into position. The unique contact geometry of the 9155-800 Series allows for full vertical engagement in pluggable

AVX's New Wire-to-Wire Connectors Deliver Considerable Cost & Space Saving in Industrial Electronics Designs

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (May 5, 2016) – AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, has released two new series of wire-to-wire (WTW) connectors that deliver considerable cost and space savings in a broad range of industrial electronics designs: the new 9286-200 Series reduced thru-wire connectors and 9286-250 reduced junction box connectors. These latest additions to AVX’s industry-proven 9286 family of poke-home discrete WTW connectors feature an active stainless steel spring contact with mechanical properties that allow it to provide maximum wire retention for 18 – 24AWG solid and stranded wire gauges. Capable of accommodating simple strip-and-poke-home wire insertion and twist-and-pull extraction, which is especially beneficial in field installations, these high-spring-force stainless steel contacts also effectively replace

AVX is the First to Achieve NASA's S-311-P-838 Specification for Space-Level BME X7R MLCC Technology

FOUNTAIN INN, S.C. (May 4, 2016) – AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of passive components and interconnect solutions, is the first — and currently only — company to be recognized as a qualified supplier of space-level base metal electrode (BME) X7R dielectric multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCCs) for use in aerospace designs and US military applications under the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA’s) S-311-P-838 specification. This specification defines the requirements for high reliability, ceramic dielectric, multilayer, base metal electrode, fixed-value chip capacitors for high-reliability space applications, in addition to the processing verification and inspections required by assemblies used in flight. After several years of extensive testing and a meticulous, months-long review of the qualification data, AVX’s full range of space-level
