Division Quality Manager, Ceramics

Job Description:
Lead the divisional quality function for plants supplying components to various markets including but not limited to automotive. This is accomplished in cooperation with Operations and Quality personnel to meet company and regulatory standards for product quality and consumer acceptance. Interfaces with Business Development, R&D, Quality Assurance, marketing, purchasing, and production to achieve results.Reports To:
VP, Corporate QualityDuties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and manages processes and procedures related to quality assurance of KAVX products.
- Oversees audit results and manages resolution of all findings in a timely manner with plant Quality Managers.
- Drive consistency of quality systems and processes at each location of responsibility.
- Periodic divisional review of quality metrics/KPIs to monitor progress toward goals and identify and address any problematic areas.
- Performs assigned technical tasks/duties associated with quality processes and procedures.
- Provides leadership and decision making in managing situations and issues relative to quality.
- Interfaces with and provides technical support and decision making to appropriate functions and employees to assure regulatory compliance, and quality of KAVX products.
- Evaluates effectiveness and assures continuous improvement in Quality process and procedures leading to continuous improvement in our products.
- Assures that customer and consumer complaints and inquiries are answered completely and in a timely manner according to KAVX policies.
- Assures that customer contracts and surveys are reviewed, and feedback provided in a timely manner for the division according to KAVX policies.
- Provides support to plant Quality Managers in case of escalation of customer related quality issues and customer quality topic meetings.
- Initiates and implements quality improvement programs to enable business growth, increase profitability, and achieve a “zero defect” quality culture.
- Supports R&D, Marketing, Operations, Quality Assurance, and Sales up to the VP level during product change initiatives, new product development, and customer interactions.
- Supports the Corporate Quality Group in ensuring compliance to Corporate Policies and Procedures, and implementation of programs and initiatives.
- At least annually conduct an onsite Quality Systems and Quality Programs assessment of all divisional plants.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Management required. MBA or other advanced degree preferred.
- 10 plus years of industry experience in Quality that may also include experience in Operations or equivalent function; Quality experience must be at the exempt level; previous multi-site responsibility experience a plus.
- Root cause analysis experience required (8D, PDCA).
- Proficiency in manufacturing processes, technologies, or other relevant areas of responsibility
- Demonstrated experience using a full range of continuous improvement tools and fundamentals to drive results; Lean or Six Sigma training preferred.
- Able to document expertise in design & execution of Quality/technical work.
- Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office and other similar software applications.
- Excellent writing, interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
- Knowledge of international cultures and customs to facilitate effectiveness of quality initiatives is a plus.
