Industry’s smallest dual element AC multilayer varistor wins prestigious award
AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer of advanced passive components and interconnect solutions, announced that EDN has named the MAV Series dual element AC multilayer varistor as one of the “100 Hot Products of 2011.” EDN’s 2011 Hot 100 highlights the electronics industry’s most significant products of the year based on innovation, significance, usefulness and popularity.
The AEC Q200-qualified MAV Series is the industry’s smallest dual element AC multilayer varistor, providing exceptionally high ESD values. Designed for use in automotive low-power AC circuits, the multilayer varistor not only has the ability to clamp large amounts of transients in a bi-directional manner, but also provides excellent EMI/RFI attenuation in the off-state, making it unsurpassed in efficiency as well as safety. The MAV Series provides an 110V peak-to-peak [voltage rating at 125kHz capability and an ESD value of 25kV (HBM ESD Level 6). The multilayer varistor features low-loss characteristics, the ability to handle large transients, and a sub-nanosecond turn-on time that clamps energy before peak, all in an ultra-compact package.
“AVX is honored to have the MAV Series multilayer varistor named an EDN 2011 Hot 100 Products. This dual element AC multilayer varistor combines cost-effectiveness with miniaturization and high-reliability to provide an ideal circuit protection solution that continues to meet our customers’ application demands,” said Pete Venuto, vice president sales at AVX.
“This awards program has been in existence since 1993, and over the years has highlighted many industry trends – this year is no different. We are very pleased to showcase the top products of the many thousands announced during the past year that especially caught the attention of our editors and readers,” said Rich Pell, Executive Editor, EDN and Designlines, UBM Electronics.
